Iraqi Forces Close to Conclude Mosul’s Liberation
The Federal Police, which holds the southern axis of the city of Mosul, announced Sunday that it will complete its mission within the next 48 hours.
“Our forces have managed to retake their designated areas in west Mosul and are now fighting on the last front which is the gold market and the Nineveh Street in the centre of the Old City district,” Major Hassan al-Bayati from Federal Police told BasNews.
The Iraqi Federal Police will announce in the next few hours the conclusion of their mission in Mosul after recapturing the market and the Nineveh Street, Bayati said.
Al-Bayati said that IS militants control no more than 500 square meters in Mosul’s Old City district, which will be liberated by the anti-terrorism forces and then the entire city will be declared free.

They are going to turn over the last bit of whatever is remaining in those funds…the food for oil program to Iraq and they are recognizing them as a country. They are not talking about letting them out of Chapter VII and it’s not even under chapter VII. This is Chapter VII charter. It’s a protection program. Looks like to me they had the meeting in 3 minutes and they put their rubber stamp on it and it’s over. It’s not the end of the security file…it’s the end of that particular program. NATO’s Main Focus in Iraq is to Build Capacity to Train Iraqi Forces
The main focus for NATO in Iraq is to build the capacity to train the Iraqi forces, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said on Thursday. Stoltenberg said in a statement that the purpose of the military operations in Iraq is to deafeat the so-called Islamic State (IS), but despite that, the main focus for NATO is not on the combat operations.
He explained that the most important thing for NATO, since the beginning of the campaign against IS, is to build a capacity for training the Iraqi forces, which would create conditions for stability and peaceful development in the future.

NATO: Our support for Iraq goes beyond the phase of liberating Mosul
NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg welcomed the liberation of the city of Mosul from a staunch terrorist.
“When [Dahsh] is defeated and Mosul is liberated, then we need Iraqi forces capable of creating the right conditions for stability, peace and development,” Stoltenberg told a news conference on Thursday evening after the conclusion of the meeting of NATO defense ministers.
“We believe that the role of NATO in Iraq goes beyond the liberation of Mosul and the defeat of [Da’sh] and we are now working to help the Iraqi authorities in the development of security institutions.”

Security forces are battling the last battle stations to regain control of the city of Mosul, the main bastion of Daish in Iraq since mid-2014.
Mosul is the second largest city with a population of 2 million before it fell.

Saleh’s statement is sort of like Trump’s “I hope” statement. “Like a hard curency” is not the same as “world reserve currency” in my view. I believe that, unless Planet X wipes us out in the next year or so, the dinar will become a world recognized currency. When is another question entirely. Oil rises to the highest level in two weeks
