After Mosul’s full liberation Iraq’s Abadi visits Nineveh Ops Command
Iraqi PM Haider Abadi has visited headquarters of Nineveh Operations Command and met with military commanders.
This comes after the city of Mosul had been declared fully liberated from ISIS terrorists on Sunday.
Abadi was due to give a victory speech on Sunday. But the speech was delayed for unknown reasons.
The city fell to ISIS in June 2014 amid collusion from former PM Nuri al-Maliki.
Iraqi army, supported by US-led international coalition, has launched an offensive code-named ‘We Are Coming, Nineveh’ to oust ISIS terrorists from the city.
Iran-allied sectarian militias, known as IMIS, gave support to Iraqi forces.
But the Iran-backed militias have committed atrocities against civilians, particularly the Sunnis.

Iraq’s Abadi to declare victory in Mosul over Islamic State
Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi was set to declare victory over Islamic State in Mosul on Monday as only a few dozen militants put up resistance in the city that was the capital of their self-declared caliphate for the past three years.
Gunfire and explosions could be heard as the U.S.-led coalition pounded the remaining few Islamic State positions.
“They won’t declare victory until the area if fully secured,” said Iraqi army officer Firas Abdel Qassim. The militants still controlled a small patch, he said.
Abadi has been meeting military and political officials in Mosul in a festive atmosphere which contrasted with the fear that quickly spread when a few hundred Islamic State militants seized the city and the Iraqi army crumbled in July 2014.
Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi shocked the Middle East and Western powers shortly afterwards by appearing at the pulpit of Mosul’s Grand al-Nuri Mosque in broad daylight and declaring a caliphate and himself the leader of the world’s Muslims.
A reign of terror followed which eventually alienated even fellow Sunni Muslims who supported the group, handing an advantage to the security forces.
Baghdadi has fled the city and his exact whereabouts are unknown. Reports have said he is dead but Iraqi and Western officials have not been able to confirm this.
Even if Baghdadi is killed or captured, that is unlikely to cripple Islamic State, which is now expected to take to the desert or mountains of Iraq and wage an insurgency, much like al Qaeda did following the fall of Saddam Hussein in 2003.
“The recovery of Mosul is a significant step in the fight against terrorism and violent extremism,” said the spokesman for U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
While defeat in Iraq’s second-largest city will deal a heavy blow to Islamic State, the group controls several cities and towns south and west of Mosul.
Islamic State is also under heavy pressure in its operational headquarters in the Syrian city of Raqqa and its self-proclaimed caliphate that once straddled the two countries is crumbling.
The militants, however, are expected to keep plotting attacks on the West and inspiring “lone wolf” violence by individuals or small groups, such as recent incidents in Britain, France and elsewhere.
HUMANITARIAN CRISIS
The stench of corpses along Mosul’s streets was a reminder of the nearly nine months of grueling urban warfare required to dislodge Islamic State from the city of 1.5 million.
Seven bodies lay in an alley near a riverbank the militants reached on Sunday while attempting to escape.
Much of Mosul has been destroyed in the fighting, with rows of houses flattened by air strikes and centuries-old stone houses gutted by explosions.
Thousands of people have been killed. The United Nations says 920,000 civilians have fled their homes since the military campaign began in October. Close to 700,000 people are still displaced.
“It’s a relief to know that the military campaign in Mosul is ending. The fighting may be over, but the humanitarian crisis is not,” said U.N. Humanitarian Coordinator for Iraq Lise Grande.
“Many of the people who have fled have lost everything. They need shelter, food, health care, water, sanitation and emergency kits. The levels of trauma we are seeing are some of the highest anywhere. What people have experienced is nearly unimaginable.”
Iraqi soldiers were relaxed. Some were swimming in the Tigris river. Another wiped the sweat off his face with an Islamic State flag.
Once celebrations end, Iraqi leaders will face the formidable task of managing sectarian tensions in Mosul and elsewhere that enabled Islamic State to initially win support and threaten to create new security challenges.

Phillyman (Dinar Guru) – [Once they finally clear ISIS wonder what the next obstacle is gonna be before we see a change in the rate…] …Even though they clear IS out of Mosul they are still in many other areas of Iraq. Will it stop the changes we are looking for from moving forward? Violence has permeated the region for centuries. [Guru] Breitling says the Sunnis will always hate the Shia but that it will not impact this reform. There seem to be too many countries/businesses pouring assets into Iraq to think it won’t turn around soon but of course time lines have brought so much frustration to this investment.

Adam Montana (Dinar Guru) – [Could Iraq state that only currency handed in to Iraq with-in its borders be given the preferential rate to start with? Please don’t think this is somehow an in country RV question I am asking as we know that rumor is totally bunk. Just thinking they may want to control the influx of currency to begin with is what I am getting at in a nutshell I guess.] I think that what you are describing is still an in-country RV, with a twist that the in-country part is temporary. If that’s what you are asking, then yes – it is possible. I don’t think it’s likely, but it is possible.

BGG (Dinar Guru) – …I half way didn’t expect them to do this..but folks this is real. They are going to turn over the last bit of whatever is remaining in those funds…the food for oil program to Iraq and they are recognizing them as a country. They are not talking about letting them out of Chapter VII and it’s not even under chapter VII. This is Chapter VII charter. It’s a protection program. Looks like to me they had the meeting in 3 minutes and they put their rubber stamp on it and it’s over. It’s not the end of the security file…it’s the end of that particular program. There’s one more log on the fire. [post 2 of 2]

Security forces fight last hours battle in Mosul
Federal Police forces are fighting the last hours of battle against ISIS in al-Nujaifi street in Mosul’s Old City, Lieutenant-General Raed Shaker Jawdat, commander of Federal Police Forces, revealed on Friday.
Jawdat said that his forces are achieving goals courageously, adding that ISIS terrorists are besieged in a 250 m area in al-Nujaifi street.
On Thursday, Federal police units controlled an underground ISIS training center in Albu Saif village in southern Mosul.
This comes as Iraqi security forces ousted ISIS terrorists from the right bank of Mosul and are currently sweeping the war-torn city to cleanse it from the terror group’s remnants.
Months of grinding urban warfare have displaced 900,000 people, about half the city’s pre-war population, and killed thousands, according to aid organizations.

Kaperoni (Dinar Guru) – “CBI website has a new look!” This is a good sign. I know it’s easy to just assume they are remodeling there website..but I think its much more. With all the speculation that the banking system must open up to perpetuate international activities to support global investment, this new website to me is much more polished, professional and institutional. We could be getting closer.

The reference calls for job opportunities for graduates in the public and private sectors
Baghdad / Sky Press: The religious authority in Najaf province on Friday called on the government to provide employment opportunities for graduates in the public and private sectors.
“The state is responsible for providing job opportunities for graduates in the public and private sectors,” said Ahmed Al Safi, the representative of the Red Cross in Karbala.
“Those responsible should provide opportunities for graduates so that they can serve this country,” he said.
On the other hand, Al-Safi pointed out that “students in the sixth preparatory stage are taking the final exams at this time, and the conditions must be provided for examinations.”
And, that “the student comes to the exam is intensified by the conditions of heat and power cuts, and we must think about our children and their future and solve the problems of students.”

MilitiaMan (Dinar Guru) – The UNSC Doc published just under three weeks ago this Friday told us all, that there was going to be an action within June 2016 [2017 ?]. That action has a time line by and or before the end of the month. That action is a reaction to things accomplished or that action wouldn’t have even been mentioned. The UNSC escrow account is being funded or well closed out if you will. End game, symbolically. That has meaning that is profound! The Oil for Food program is to be done and gone for ever… I may be wrong, but, that imo is Chapter 7 done in regards to MR and acceptance of Article 8 is in effect or will be, once in synchronization. Enorrste (Dinar Guru) – [The debate continues….] Each of us is looking at a different set of numbers. In any case, I would personally take Keywords at his word, regardless of the numbers. Saleh’s statement is sort of like Trump’s “I hope” statement. “Like a hard curency” is not the same as “world reserve currency” in my view. I believe that, unless Planet X wipes us out in the next year or so, the dinar will become a world recognized currency. When is another question entirely. I started this over 10 years ago and am still waiting for it to just start, let alone finish. [reference Guru mike’s post 6-20-2017….will the debate continue?]

BGG (Dinar Guru) – “Our economy is space. Monetary policy is an example” The…article is a VERY HARD translation – BUT IMHO FILLED with DEAD GIVE-AWAYS! …for those pouting about not being rich yet – this is one more log on the FIRE! What it means is – they are doing things (up until now) this economist doesn’t understand and can’t explain. Quotes: “…we urgently need a new economic philosophy that leads to generating development And to expand the supply and demand for local production in all its variants, especially in an important aspect of monetary policy is dealing with the value of the development of the dinar or the liberation of the value of the dinar...” “The liberalization or floating of the currency is not strange or innovative in the money market, it is a tool of the monetary policy…” BOOOOM…That’s all I have to say. That is a DIRECT narrative on the state of the currency value in Iraq. This was published yesterday. Cannot be anymore direct.
