Talabani’s family supports “second term” to Abadi to avoid “scenario” that might ignite the Kurdistan street
Baghdad today – Sulaymaniyah – An informed source revealed Sunday that there is a tendency by the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) to support the current prime minister, Haider al-Abadi, for a second term in order to prevent another person from reaching the post, which could create a new crisis in the region.
The source said in an interview with “Baghdad Today” that “there is a trend supported by the Talabani family, to support Abbadi for a second term in the event he approved the group of demands for the National Union, including the return of part of the Peshmerga and Asayish forces to Kirkuk and management issues related to the position of governor.
He added that “the issue of approving the continuation of sending the salaries of employees and support the share of 17% of the budget of the conditions also important, in addition to other conditions agreed by the party with the Democratic Party.”
The source pointed out that “supporting the direction of Abadi came as a result of the uncertainty that the next prime minister will agree to send the amounts allocated to salaries of staff, which may restore the Kurdish street to demonstrate again and create a new crisis ahead of the parliamentary elections in Kurdistan, affect the status of the party in those elections” .

The Prime Minister Haider Abadi and the leader of the Sadrist movement, Moqtada al-Sadr, announced last Saturday, an alliance between their coalition (victory and rest), to form the largest bloc within the Iraqi parliament.
The Sadr, has announced in (June 13, 2018), the accession of the Conquest led by Hadi al-Ameri to the alliance to form the “largest bloc” within the Iraqi parliament, pointing out that the new alliance comes with the preservation of the tripartite alliance, which was concluded earlier, between The National Coalition and the Stream of Wisdom.

About 3 weeks ago, there was a statement added to the CBI website (you know – cbi.iq) that basically explains to the Iraqis what to do and how to bring in old and damaged money. The good news is that this statement basically started the RV process. Iraqis will only notice after the rate changes that it does not take as much to buy bread as it did before.

Iraq plans manual election recount only for suspect ballots
BAGHDAD (Reuters) – Iraq will conduct a manual recount of votes from a May election only for ballots mentioned in official reports on fraud or in formal complaints, a move likely to speed up the ratification of final results and the formation of a new government.
The parliamentary election has been marred by historically low turnout and fraud allegations.
The outgoing parliament this month passed a law mandating a nationwide manual recount of votes, but the panel of judges now in charge of the recount said it would only be conducted for problematic ballots.
Interpreting a ruling from the Supreme Federal Court, a panel of judges who are now in charge of the elections commission said on Sunday they would only manually recount problematic ballots “out of respect for the will of voters and their rights … and to preserve their vote which came without any violation.”
The law passed by parliament had also suspended the Independent High Election Commission’s nine-member board of commissioners and replaced them with judges.
Ballot boxes from areas where there were fraud allegations will be moved to the capital Baghdad, where the recount will be held in the presence of United Nations representatives at a time and place to be determined later, the panel said in a statement.
The historically slow and complex process of forming an Iraqi government after an election has been further complicated this time round because of the fraud allegations and subsequent recount. Now that only specific ballots will be recounted, a new government could be formed faster.
The full recount was voted for by an outgoing parliament in which a majority of lawmakers, including the speaker, failed to retain their seats in the May poll. The vote came after a government report said there were serious electoral violations, but the report only recommended a partial recount.
Parliament met on Sunday to discuss another law that would allow it to remain in session until final results are ratified, even though its term constitutionally ends next week on June 30.
Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi, who’s electoral list came third in the poll, and the winner, cleric Moqtada al-Sadr, entered into a political alliance on Saturday night, less than two weeks after Sadr announced a similar alliance with second-placed Iran ally Hadi al-Amiri’s bloc, thus bringing the top three blocs together.
Sadr’s bloc has been boycotting parliament’s sessions. He and Amiri were against a full recount. Both Sadr and Abadi oppose the idea of the current parliament extending its mandate.

The Iraqi parliament demands the judiciary to remove 13 officials of the Electoral Commission
Twilight News – The Iraqi parliament demanded on Monday the judiciary and the executive authority to remove 13 senior officials in the Electoral Commission, before the start of manual counting and counting of polling results.
The judges, entrusted with the functions of the Council of the Electoral Commission in Iraq, decided on Sunday, the process of manual counting and counting of votes in centers that have allegations of “fraud” only; based on the decision of the Federal Supreme Court.

According to the announced results of the elections held on 12 May last, dissolved the alliance, “Saroon,” supported by the leader of the Sadrist movement Moqtada al-Sadr, ranked first with 54 seats out of 329, followed by the alliance, “Al-Fath,” consisting of political arms of the factions of ” Popular crowd “led by Hadi al-Ameri, with 47 seats.
Followed by the coalition of “victory”, led by Prime Minister Haider Abadi, with 42 seats, while the coalition of “State of Law” led by former Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki 26 seats.

URGENT Abadi / Pence: We are working to form a strong government service
(BNA) Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi received a phone call from US Vice President Mike Pence on Monday, during which they discussed bilateral relations and bilateral relations, as well as the political and security situation.
“The United States is committed to supporting Iraq, which has achieved a great victory over gangs that support terrorism and liberate its territory,” Pence said in a statement.
“Our country will continue to support Iraq in the construction and reconstruction phase,” he said. “We appreciate the efforts of the Iraqi government to return the displaced and preserve the minorities and return them to their areas.”
Abadi said that “the Iraqi government and our heroic forces continue to pursue the cells and terrorist pockets to eliminate them.”

That being said, our POTUS is VERY tired of waiting for this to go off. He has applied, and is still applying lots of pressure on this, along with several other major countries. The US has been involved in the background along with the UN to resolve the Election Mess and get this rolled out for the benefit of all of us. From what I understand, if all goes bad and it looks like it will go forever, then POTUS is wanting this out anyway and will continue to apply pressure to get it finished. This window will remain open until around the 8th of July. …In my opinion, the pressure being applied will make this go, and will get it done much sooner. And, if you see the “Sadr and Abadi Play Nice” speech, with them having the largest block as the Papers are indicating now, it will be much sooner…So, hang in there Everyone. Large blocs in Iraq avoid coalition with former prime minister
Iraq’s Prime Minister and Leader of Al-Nasser Coalition (Victory Alliance), Haider Al-Abadi, has been trying to avoid making a coalition with his predecessor, Nouri Al-Maliki, Al-Araby Al-Jadeed reported on Monday. Working with the Sa’eroon Coalition leader Muqtada Al-Sadr, Al-Abadi has been exerting efforts to avoid such a deal. Al-Nasser and Sa’eroon are the largest coalitions in the new Iraqi parliament.
Meanwhile, another Coalition, Al-Fateh, formed mainly by Al-Hashd Al-Shaabi (the Popular Mobilisation Forces), has been trying to bring Al-Maliki closer to the largest groups. “Al-Fateh Coalition, headed by Hadi Al-Ameri, is trying to bring the ex-Prime Minister closer to the coalition of Sa’eroon, Al-Nasser and Al-Fateh,” explained one Sa’eroon official. He noted that such an effort “will bring the Shia home together again.”
The official, who refused to give his name, said that all three groups have the same stance towards Al-Maliki, but they have set conditions for him to join the coalition. One of these, he explained, is that he will not be given any of the sovereign ministries to run. This and other conditions are expected to be unacceptable to him.
Al-Abadi and Al-Sadr announced a non-sectarian coalition on Saturday that includes their own groups in order to guarantee the largest parliamentary bloc. They insisted that they are open to anyone.
Meanwhile, Al-Maliki is working to announce a new political initiative with a meeting of all Shia political blocs. The intention is for those attending to agree on the allocation of the sovereign ministries and the government’s programme.
Al-Maliki was the Iraqi Prime Minister between 2006 and 2014. Many rights violations and the detention of thousands of innocent people on political and sectarian grounds occurred during his time in office. Allegations of vast sums of state money being wasted have also been made.
More than five million people were displaced on his watch after their homes were occupied by Daesh. The Iraqi people blamed him, as the then Commander of the armed forces, for the massacre of 1,700 army cadets by Daesh inside the “Spiker” military college in 2014.

Iraq PM and cleric Sadr agree alliance
NAJAF: Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Al-Abadi and nationalist cleric Moqtada Sadr said they had formed an alliance in a bid to create a new government after May polls.
Sadr’s joint list with communists won 54 seats in the legislative elections to become the biggest bloc in Iraq’s 329-seat parliament, while Abadi’s bloc came in third, scooping just 42 seats.
On Saturday Abadi travelled to the Shiite shrine city of Najaf to meet Sadr.
After three hours of talks they issued a joint statement announcing they had set up a coalition.
The statement said their alliance “transcends sectarianism and ethnic” issues “in order to speed up the formation of the new government and agree on the principles which serve the aspirations of our people”.
A source close to Sadr’s Marching Towards Reform alliance said the thorniest issue is who will fill the post of prime minister in the new government.
Abadi would like to keep the job but is meeting resistance from rivals who beat his bloc in the election.
Saturday’s joint statement did not mention an alliance Sadr formed earlier this month with two other lists, ahead of a manual recount ordered by Iraq’s supreme court amid allegations of fraud.
Last week the firebrand Sadr, a former militia leader, reached a coalition agreement with the pro-Iranian former fighters under Hadi Al-Ameri, whose list came second in the election with 47 seats.
Before that, Sadr formed an alliance with Ammar al-Hakim’s Al-Hikma list, which won 19 seats, and the secular outgoing vice-president Iyad Allawi, whose list was comprised largely of Sunnis and secured 21 seats.
Al-Sadr campaigned on a platform to end sectarian politics and replace it with a government that puts Iraqis first.
Instead, he has forged a postelection coalition with a rival Shiite bloc that includes some of the most powerful militias operating in Iraq – groups that get their funding and support from Tehran.
The deal underscores the active role Iran is taking in shaping the next government of Iraq, sending key military and spiritual advisers to revive a grand coalition of Shiite parties as a conduit for its influence in Baghdad. It also illustrates how Iran has gained sway over Al-Sadr, who once called for booting foreign influence from Iraq.
