Mubasher: The Office of the Inspector-General in the Ministry of Finance and recommended the return of more than 216 billion dinars during the last year, while thwarted the seizure of a 14,000-acre property belonging to the ministry.

The ministry’s inspector-general, Maher al-Bayati, said on Thursday that the office retrieved and recommended the return of more than 216 billion dinars last year, confirming that the seizure of a 14,000-dunum property of the ministry was prevented.

He added that the issuance of inclusion decisions exceeding 12.7 billion dinars, and recommended the return of 12.3 billion dinars.

He continued: The value of the amounts transferred for inclusion for the same period, 43 billion dinars, and more than 200 thousand dollars in addition to 124 million dollars already recovered.

Al-Bayati said that the Office, through the inspection teams and receiving information, either directly or through the hotline, was able to open many files, in light of which last year formed 379 investigative committees of the issues received by the Office.

He explained that his office also worked on evaluating the performance of employees and the institutional performance of self-managers and finding weaknesses and strength and working to develop pros and fight against and reduce corruption, as well as the development of treatments for the negative phenomena by rotation sites, accounting and exclusion if necessary.

He pointed out that his office during the last few years, to detect the seizure of a 14,000-acre property of the Ministry of Finance exploited by some of the weak souls to be established commercial, agricultural and residential projects.

He continued: There was information that areas of the property sold to citizens contrary to the law, although the land in question is owned by the Ministry of Finance.

The Inspector General of Finance said that his office was also able to detect properties belonging to the Ministry of Finance sold to citizens as a result of irregularities and falsification in the proceedings, including the transfer of the ownership of 4 properties with false books attributed to the state property, in addition to 3 other properties sold illegally.

He said that the competent authorities of the Ministry have been instructed to file criminal and judicial proceedings to invalidate the sale and restitution restrictions to the Ministry of Finance.

Al-Bayati stressed that the Office has also managed during the past few years, in cooperation with the Integrity Commission and the Agricultural Cooperative Bank, to detect the introduction of counterfeit currency to one of the branches of the bank mentioned, and seized the employee involved and admitted to enter the counterfeit currency.

He continued: estimated total amount of up to 250 million dinars, stressing his office to take legal action deterrent against anyone involved in this suspicious operation.
