The company said in a statement received by Al-Rabaa that it “would like to clarify several matters for public opinion related to the decision of the committee formed by the Iraqi government,” as follows:
1 – The US Treasury’s decision issued on 1/22/2024 was accompanied by a letter from the US Treasury allowing the company to deal normally until 3/22/2024, and among what is permitted is for its bank transfers to continue in their normal form for the purpose of safe operation of its operations. However, the Iraqi government, represented by the Central Bank of Iraq, froze the company’s accounts and did not facilitate any bank transfers, which paralyzed the company’s movement by 80%, and that most destinations exclusively require official bank transfers to receive its wages, which forced the company to stop most of its destinations, and was limited to those destinations that could deal properly. monetary.
2 – Until today, February 13, 2024, no statement has been issued by a government official presenting the results of the investigation, while the suspension decision was understood by other countries to come in support of the report and decision of the US Treasury, and it canceled landing approvals, including but not limited to Saudi airports). More than 400 flights were scheduled during the second month, which in turn led to great confusion for the Iraqi pilgrims and caused huge losses for us and for them.
3 – As a result of the Iraqi government’s decision at that moment to stop the operations of Fly Baghdad Company, begin investigating it, and not issue an official statement of the results, all companies selling their aircraft to Fly Baghdad companies on an installment basis (lease) with the intention of purchasing decided to cancel all contracts and sources of assets of Fly Baghdad Company ( Its aircraft) with the money received in its favor, which made the company lose 8 aircraft from its fleet at once and suddenly, and remain on the company’s owned aircraft, which number 4 aircraft, which does not cover the previous table.
Fly Baghdad called on “Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani to continue to publicly support the company, lift the injustice against it, facilitate its banking procedures normally, and continue to demand from the American side any tangible evidence of the company’s violations, if any.”
