Mnt Goat – So the next chess move rests with parliament as they now have 10 days and the “ball is in their court”.  According to the constitution, they must to ratify or reject the candidates posed by Abadi within this period of time. We wait and see what happens. This brings us to April 10th.  I am still firm on my mid March to mid April RV window of opportunity. It has not changed. We still have time for all the work to be done to conclude the needed tasks. I am a bit skeptical it will all occur but this is their new target timeframe not mine.  If not I will then have to move along to a new RV window of opportunity when they give it to me. I will first, of course, justify it and bring it to you why I feel I have to move it out. No secret sources of intel or news from the bank screens as this is all rubbish talk. Mnt Goat – I can absolutely, without a doubt tell you that there WILL NOT be any RV of the IQD this weekend. Why watch for an RV if we know there are still mandates for Iraq to complete prior to any RV. It is instead the completion of these mandates we watch and wait for as the RV is not the main objective here but just a by-product of meeting these objectives.   So now at the week’s end we see a benchmark in this saga to obtain a technocratic government (an event that had to occur). We know that prime minister Abadi has met Sadr’s deadline of Thursday to submit to parliament the list of candidates to fill his cabinet…   …Abadi told everyone that after about a year he would come back and review everyone who he originally appointed as minister. He has done just this and so he does carry out his plan. Yes- there is a plan.   [post 1 of 2….stay tuned]

firefly – The CBI and the GOI are 2 separate entities…Every Central bank is its own entity.  According to Iraq’s constitution the Governor of the CBI has to be voted in. He/She can’t simply be appointed the position…as Maliki was doing for 4 years.  I don’t believe all the positions are needed to fix for the reform.  Remember, the only conditions the IMF gave them on Dec 22, 2015 was to get the AML and Investment Laws completed and activated.  Both DONE!

mike – Article:  “Abadi adviser waving to lift subsidies on gasoline ration card and to ensure the IMF loans”    This will be a very unpopular move for Abadi to make right now, the folks need those ration cards and fuel subsidies, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Sadr reject this. It looks like they’re trying to lower expenses and dismantle the socialist structure of Iraq but they need to get the open market economy up and running before they do it, IMO.

wmawhite – Please…someone explain to me how is it that the parliament voting on the new minister of culture, or the minister of education, or any of them have anything to do with Iraq entering the world’s economy markets?  Let me give you a little hint…it has nothing to do with it…   These reforms of the government of Iraq is a reform of the old way of doing business…Abadi is changing a “culture” and is setting Iraq on a new path for the future…these changes will help Iraq be successful in the future. Last October the IMF told the world about something Iraq is going to do now…”1st half of 2016″…

Abadi directs the Integrity Commission to investigate corrupt deals on oil contracts

Twilight News / face Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi on Saturday Integrity Commission to open an investigation on the state accusing senior officials of corruption deals, a young oil contracts in the previous government headed by Nouri al-Maliki.

Information Office of Ebadi said in a statement, said that the last face of the Integrity Commission to take legal action and calls for the judiciary to carry out prosecutions spot about serious by the investigative journalism (Fairfax Media) and (Hovingtin Post), which revealed the involvement of senior Iraqi officials in the state in corrupt deals and bribes related to oil contracts during the previous governments. ”

Tlar – Shabs has been there all along in the background IMO.  …most likely Shabibi will not come back but there is strong evidence  that Shabibi has been advising and communicating with Keywords as an article of a week or so stated, keywords asked Shabibi for his help on getting certain legislation through.  …that alone showed me that there is communication between with Shabibi and Keywords.  I can also understand that until Maliki is gone or behind bars that there is good reason to keep any communication between Keywords and Shabs low key on Shabs part and to a certain extent Keywords part also.  Keywords was a Maliki proxy.  I am not so sure that Keywords will be removed.  Either on his own or with help from somebody or some organization, he has been transforming everything nicely at the CBI in preparation to shake hands with the international banking system, including rebuilding the CBI website making it user friendly and interactive and transparent.  I think he is either a pretty smart cookie or he is getting a lot of help considering he has had no formal training in banking let alone being in charge of a central bank.  To what he owes his achievements so far or to who, it is still a remarkable achievement as to how well he has transformed the whole system in preparation to go international with their banks.  All IMO of course..

mike – Here’s the thing, a 1500 – $1 rate will help the GOI, it would reduce internal expenses like payroll etc as much as 30%. Conversely, this will create inflation and lower the purchasing power of the citizens. So…it’s a quagmire. We just have to trust that the government is going to do the right thing for its people, no worries, right?

Breitling – When they talk about the hype [Articles]…some of the warning given out by individual states and some warning from a federal level…hey watch the hype.  They are absolutely right.  But.  I talk about the numbers coming out of Iraq.  I talk about what the governor of the CBI has stated and what’s coming out of that arena.  And they stated they are going to add value to the currency.  They stated what those rates were.  They stated specifically on how they want to do it based on the market they are in and if there are changes they will adapt.  I appreciate what some of these articles have written and what they are doing…They are just trying to warn people to just watch what’s going on…but they completely ignore what we are watching.  We’re a completely different group.  We’re not into hype…If you’re confused when these articles come out…because of these guys who have been caught defrauding people of their money but I want people to realize not one time did these guys get in trouble for selling dinar.

Tlar – Article  “Sadr, ending a sit – green and calls for demonstrations until the vote on the ministerial cabin”   Sadr is still playing the bad guy, good guy routine.  …he is threatening the whole system of government unless they vote for change in the time alloted.   Abadi and Sadr have 10 days in which to swing the votes needed and you can bet they will be meeting with everyone…they must vote by the deadline or “Sadr will go after everybody…  They need the ten days and that’s why they gave the names and ten days to “study”.   We will know in the next 9 days how this comes out.  …I am an eternal optimist so my bet is this will come out ok.

Kaperoni – Until they open the banking system, and move to Article VIII, they have to have auctions to provide a convertible currency (dollar) to pay for imports (food, appliances, vehicles, etc).  The solution is to work to get the banking system done, laws passed and have a monetary policy in compliance with the IMF so they can transition to Article VIII and hope the dinar is then accepted/convertible worldwide (freedom of movement of capital). [so far 2% not in sight lol –  is a float still viable?]  Float can happen anytime.  That is up to the CBI and one of the tools of their monetary policy.

Aggiedad77 – If I may chime in on this whole Abadi Cabinet thing for a short minute or two or three…I know he brought forth what appears to be a decent list of names today…decent enough that it seems Sadr is calling the dogs off for a short while and encouraging Parliament to give serious consideration to the list of names…that by itself is encouraging IMO…Also I think Parliament made a good move today after they heard from Abadi by dismissing for the rest of this day and reconvening on Saturday to talk further about Abadi’s proposal…I know…someone said they had 10 days…but really…why would they need so long…a day and half should be plenty of time to deal with names presented…So will we see some final resolution on Saturday…
